Approach and methods

The project consists of an interactive and multimedia exhibition, including: photos (of writers, books, manuscripts etc.); audio and video recordings (movies, interviews, music and poetry recitals, theatre performance etc.); literary-historical data; e-books. This project implies a modernly designed vision of the display and a multilingual approach, using digital multimedia technology.

The exhibition's themes

The current information presents a synthesis of European literature, with its representative authors. The structure is chronologically organized and includes the main stages of the European literature, on the following segments: The Antiquity, The Middle Ages, The Renaissance, The Baroque and Classicism, The Enlightenment, The Romanticism, The Realism, The Naturalism, The Parnassians, The Symbolism, The Modern and Contemporary Literature.

The technical project

The EuroLiteraTur project offers an informational interactive system of Kiosk Touch screen (Info Touch), organized in a both alternative and hierarchical structure, provided with a multimedia platform. The project presents an integrated solution - software and hardware - with a graphic interface of the interactive multimedia exhibition and a technical support - a computer network with free access for the visitors: 3 info touch systems, 3 video projectors or plasma displays, which will show images from the electronic exhibition all the time.

PURPOSE

The main purpose of the project is to promote and encourage reading, with the priority in
attracting young people close to the common European cultural values, as a manner of informal education.

OBJECTIVES

Promotion of cultural dialogue and knowledge share concerning the European nations' cultures and literature. The highlighting of the common roots and similar elements in the European literary heritage, cultural diversity and development of new forms of literary expression. Improved access to the common cultural heritage of European Union for as many citizens as possible.

Through its formal characteristics (scientific and technical), the ongoing of this project
represents an innovative alternative to the classical type of literary exhibition, projecting a virtual and dynamic image of the European literature, suitable to the requirements of the third millennium. The highlight of this project is focused on the following dimensions: attractiveness, accessibility, interactivity, poly-disciplinarity. This informative multilingual project is offered a start up investment by European Union: "Europe: an information society for all".

BENEFICIARIES

At a local level: Municipalities of Bucharest, Athens, Roma, Prague, Lodz and Saragossa. At an individual level: the young European people (pupils and students) and the large European public. The project is focused on rising awareness amongst the youth and bringing them closer to the common European literature and cultural values, within the context of informal education. Also, the project highlights the attractiveness, interactivity and accessibility of the general public to information, culture and education.
